Faces of Scram Africa - Behind the lens with Riki Rojas
"If you are going to try, go all the way, otherwise don't even start".

So begins the film of Scram Africa 2018, very powerful words by Charles Bukowski. I think that this poem could summarize what people look for in Scram Africa, since Bukowski reflects on how many of the participants have done or will do it throughout their participation in Scram Africa. You leave everything behind, ride on your motorcycle, and for 2 weeks you participate in this unique adventure.

In fact, I had never attended Scram Africa until last year, as a filmmaker, but since the first edition, Karles has been telling me about the adventures of each year and, of course, the desire to go was increasingly bigger. Motorcycles, friends, desert, freedom are some ingredients that every motor lover likes to hear.f

Finally, last year, I was able to convince Karles that it was necessary to show the world in a visual way (apart from the photos) what was Scram Africa. And suddenly I found myself on a ferry to Morocco with 20 guys excited to jump in their motorcycles, amb me excited to film everything.

Even though I went with the car assistance, I felt as adventurous as they were. The landscapes of Morocco are unique, from the green and mountain scenery from the north to the warm dunes of the south. I could observe how the participants had problems from the first day with the bikes, but their spirits to persist followed intact since the adventure had to continue and nothing and nobody could stop them.

As a filmmaker, I had to look for the best places to film, and that would not have been possible without Ignasi (GR11), he knows Morocco better than nobody and helped me to find the best places to watch the participants pass.

After finishing each stage, and after the well-deserved beer while we commented the adventures of the day, I could not relax here, as it was my time to edit the images of the day in order to have a short summary of the stage and so post it on Instagram and FB.
It's was quite intense, but I personally like it very much, since it challenges you every day to have it on time, so everybody following the Scram Africa could see it.
I remember an occasion, in one of the last stages, editing the video in the hotel's parking lot, with very little battery in the computer, and with the participants about to leave. It was intense but the result was good!
I was able to complete the last 2 stages of Scram Africa with a motorcycle, and this gave me the opportunity to see the Scram Africa from another perspective. The truth is that crossing the Atlas with a motorcycle is not a thing that you do every day.
Dani Thanks for letting me the bike ;)

This year we are going back to the Scram Africa and again, excited to film and show what's going on around the Morocco roads! See you there!
