Scram Africa 2025: A Journey Through the Wild South

The 12th edition of Scram Africa 2025 has just concluded, and it will be remembered as one of the most adventurous and inspiring editions yet. This year we ventured deep into the less-traveled and unspoiled southern regions of Morocco, far from the more frequented areas, to explore pristine landscapes and test the endurance of both riders and machines.
This edition brought together an incredible mix of motorcycles: custom bikes, scramblers, vintage models, and heavily modified adventure machines. The diversity of bikes perfectly captured the spirit of Scram Africa. Weather played its part too—we had to cancel Stage 3 due to heavy rains, adapting the route to ensure safety without compromising the challenge. Riders faced sand, rocks, desert tracks, off-road and on-road sections, with tough stages that left everyone proud of what they had accomplished.
Here’s a breakdown of the expedition stage by stage:
Stage 1: Marrakech – Skoura
The adventure kicked off with a crossing of the majestic Atlas Mountains. Riders navigated from Marrakech into a mix of tarmac and off-road trails through farms, remote villages, forests, and dry riverbeds. The landscape transitioned beautifully as riders descended towards Skoura on the southern side of the mountains. Spirits were high at the finish, as participants gathered at the Kasbah to share stories and prepare for the road ahead.
Stage 2: Skoura – Tagounite
This was the gateway to the edge of the Sahara Desert. The day featured an exciting ride through the rugged Saghro Mountains, followed by dusty tracks and rocky trails, with mandatory fuel stops in N’Kob and Zagora. As riders approached Tagounite, the terrain became rougher, culminating in a night under the stars at a bivouac next to the Erg Lihoudi dunes. The sense of adventure grew stronger as the vast desert loomed ahead.
Stage 3: Tagounite – Tata (Modified)
This stage was originally set to be one of the most epic of the trip, traversing the region of Erg Cheggaga and Iriki Lake. However, due to unusually heavy rains and dangerous washed-out riverbeds, we were forced to cancel the off-road segment for safety reasons. Riders took the asphalt route to Tata, still enjoying the dramatic landscapes and the satisfaction of overcoming the unexpected. This decision ensured the group’s well-being while keeping the spirit of the adventure intact.
Stage 4: Tata – Assa
From the lush oasis of Tata, we ventured back into the barren beauty of the desert. Riders followed traces of the old Dakar Rally, navigating between ancient land beacons across vast empty plains and dry lakebeds. The route flirted with the course of the Draa River before ending in a remote desert bivouac. This stage brought the raw feeling of isolation and the pioneering spirit of early desert explorers.
Stage 5: Assa – Plage Blanche
This unique stage combined desert adventure with the ultimate reward: the Atlantic Ocean. After refueling in Guelmim, the route led through fast off-road tracks straight to the iconic Plage Blanche. Riders experienced the surreal thrill of riding 14 kilometers along the deserted beach with the waves at their side. The stage finished at Fort Bou Jerif, a historic military outpost transformed into a desert oasis.
Stage 6: Plage Blanche – Tafraoute
The journey continued with coastal mountain trails, offering spectacular views over the ocean. In Sidi Ifni and Legzira Beach, riders could touch their tires to the Atlantic waves. The road then turned inland through Tiznit and into the painted rock formations of Tafraoute, where colorful boulders created a surreal and unforgettable backdrop. The night at Les Amandiers Hotel was a perfect reward after a demanding day.
Stage 7: Tafraoute – Marrakech
The final stage offered winding mountain roads and endless curves that any motorcyclist would dream of. After a long stretch of scenic tarmac, the adventure ended with a symbolic crossing of the Agafay Desert near Marrakech. It was the perfect finale, a last taste of dust and gravel before reaching the hotel to celebrate the completion of an incredible journey.
The Challenge Conquered
Scram Africa 2025 was not only a test of skill and endurance but also an opportunity to disconnect, explore untouched landscapes, and share unforgettable moments with fellow adventurers. The combination of sand, rocks, extreme heat, and long days on the bike made this edition a true badge of honor for everyone involved.
We can’t wait to see what Scram Africa 2026 will bring. Until then, keep the adventure alive!
